The diplomatic crisis between Algeria and France continues

Retaliating against Algeria’s decision to expel 12 French diplomats, France announced that it would expel 12 Algerian diplomats on its territory and recalled its ambassador to Algeria

In a written statement, the Algerian authorities’ expulsion of 12 French consular employees was described as “unjustified” and “incomprehensible”.

In the statement, which stated that Algerian government officials “take responsibility for the devastating deterioration in bilateral relations”, it was announced that a “symmetrical step” will be taken against this attitude of Algeria and 12 Algerian diplomats will be expelled.

In this context, French President Emmanuel Macron recalled his country’s Ambassador to Algeria Stephane Romatet for “consultations”, the statement said.
