The OIC issued a statement on Israel’s bombardment of a hospital in Gaza City.
“The Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemns the bombing of the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip by the occupying Israeli forces,” the statement said.
It was emphasized that the Israeli attack targeting the hospital is a war crime and a clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
It said that the health system in the Gaza Strip is at risk of collapse due to the direct targeting of hospitals in Gaza, the interruption of electricity supply, the lack of medicines and medical supplies, and the prevention of the entry of fuel needed to run generators.
The statement pointed out that the current situation in the health system in Gaza is “a harbinger of a humanitarian catastrophe”.
The statement called on the international community, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), to intervene urgently to deliver medical and humanitarian aid and basic needs to Gaza and to ensure a ceasefire in Gaza.
